YMF Showcase Concerts

YMF showcases its Artists Roster members via an annual concert series open to the public.
Generally, no advance reservations are required.
The 2010 concert series, celebrating our 26th Anniversary, will be presented at:

 

Hamilton Hall, Newman Center for the Performing Arts
2344 E. Iliff Ave.(at S. University Blvd.)
University of Denver Campus

(enter rear parking garage from E. Wesley Ave., one block South)

 

All tickets are general admission and may be obtained via donation at the
YMF table in the Joy Burns Plaza outside the Hamilton Hall entry door.

$10 - Adults
$8 - Seniors (65 or older)
$5 - Students

 

All donations include post-concert "Meet the Artists" reception

Violinist Rebekah Durham, age 24

Violin student since age 4 is 2004 graduate of Cleveland Institute of Music’s “Young Artists” Program and received an Artist Diploma and Bachelor of Music degree magna cum laude from University of Denver (studying primarily with Linda Wang, James Maurer and William Preucil)..... now a grad student of Hyo Kang at Juilliard School of Music in New York City..... has performed throughout Colorado and much of the U.S., Europe, South America and Japan..... has  soloed with National   Repertory, Niwot  Timberline, Denver Philharmonic and Lamont Symphony Orchestras..... participant in numerous summer festivals..... 2007 winner of Lamont Solo Honors Competition and prizewinner in Aurora Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition.....  new music devotee helped premiere new works at major Colorado music conferences as member of the Playground Ensemble  and now  plays new music with the New Juilliard Ensemble and AXIOM in notable Manhattan venues.

 

Pianist Joseph Eisele, age 15

Incoming Cherry Creek H.S. sophomore, a two-term YMF’s roster member, was the top Junior performer in YMF’s 2006 Auditions..... honor student has won numerous other events, including top honors in the first three age divisions of the Wells Music/Yamaha Advanced Competitive Competition (2003, 2005, 2009), the 2004 Concerto Competition and 2008 Junior Piano Competition of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association..... he finished third in the 2009 MTNA Regionals..... making his orchestral debut at age 9, he has been a guest soloist with the Musica Sacra Chamber, Littleton Symphony, National Repertory and Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestras..... also has been regularly performing in retirement homes since he began piano studies with Carolyn Shaak at age 4 ½ and is well-received by the residents..... CU Professor Emeritus Larry Graham is his current mentor..... skiing, reading, school band drumming and Tae Kwon Do (he earned a black belt at age 11) are his non-piano interests. 

 

Harpist Emily Levin, age 19

Arapahoe H. S. honors grad, who will enter her sophomore year at Indiana University as both a Jacobs Scholar and a Founders Scholar, began harp lessons with Mary Kay Waddington at age 5 and now studies with Susan McDonald at IU’s Jacobs School of Music.....  a finalist last October at the 17th International Harp Contest in Israel,  she performed with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and was awarded the Irena Kaganovsky Prize..... was top winner in the 2010 American Harp Society Foundation Ann Adams Awards and recently was invited to perform the Rocky Mountain premiere of a Gabriela Lena Frank chamber work with the Colorado Chamber Players in May 2011..... after winning the 2008 Jeff Bradley Young Artists Competition sponsored by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and The Denver Post, she was guest soloist at a CSO concert and the Symphony Ball..... was chosen in July 2008 to perform at the World Harp Congress in Amsterdam as part of the Focus on Youth program and, at the end of 2008, was among 141 “best young artists” selected from a nationwide field of 8,000 applicants  for a January 2009 Young ARTS Week program sponsored  by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts in Miami, FL, where she was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts finalist..... is in her third two-year term on YMF's Roster and was Principal Harpist of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra from 2003 to 2009 .....outside of music, she loves reading, history and running.

 

Pianist Yale Work, age 19

Boulder Bridge School grad began Suzuki piano lessons in 1997 and was trained by Crystal Lee in Boulder from 2002 to 2008......  studied with Antoinette Perry at the Aspen School of Music during the summer of 2007 and currently is working with Matti Raekallio at Juilliard (where he will be a junior this fall)...... has won numerous piano contests, including the Colorado State Music Teachers Association competition (2003, 2004, 2007), inaugural Symphony in the Valley Concerto Competition (2004), Wells Music/Yamaha Piano Competition (2003, 2006, 2007) and  Boulder Philharmonic Concerto Competition (2006).....   In 2008, placed third in  the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition and was grand prize winner of the Baker Piano Center Competition.....   finalist in the 2009 Jefferson Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Concerto Competition.....  YMF member since 2005 received the Shaak Award for best high school division piano performance in YMF’s 2006 Auditions..... has soloed three times with the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra (2003, 2006 and 2007), performed with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006 and was 2006-07 Denver Young Artists Orchestra pianist.
